Knowing is Loving: Day 22

Psalm 119 Devotional

22 Days: Knowing is Loving

Day 22 (Tav – verses 169-176)

Let my cry come before You, O’ Lord; Give me understanding according to Your word. Let my supplication come before You; deliver me according to Your word. Let my lips utter praise, for you teach me Your statutes. Let my tongue sing of Your word, for all Your commandments are righteousness. Let Your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen Your precepts. I long for Your salvation, O’ Lord, and Your law is my delight. Let my soul live that it may praise You, and let Your ordinances help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I do not forget Your commandments.

Over the course of these twenty-two days, we have seen the psalmist lay bare his soul before the Lord. Are we willing to do the same and lay everything that consumes us in our lives before the Lord? As we do, we can have the confidence, according to God’s word that we will come to understand the glorious future awaiting us in eternity, thanks to all that the Lord provides. God’s promises, presented to us in His word, will grow our faith and prepare us for all things that may seek to come against us. We will be delivered one day to our heavenly future because that truth is found in the words that God has spoken to us. As we have gone through these twenty-two days the hope is that we have been able to praise our Lord and Savior more and more each day.

Do we want to just move along with a quiet praise that is uttered occasionally? Let us challenge ourselves to praise God daily as we trust the truth of His word fully in each moment of our lives. God’s commands are righteous as all of His promises to those who have placed their trust and salvation in Him. When we are in the hand of God there is not a thing in this world or anyplace that we are in that can remove us from His mighty grip (John 10:29). God’s hand is holding us, and it will hold us always as we strive to finish the race and meet Him in eternity. As we choose to follow the precepts of God, we will more clearly see the might and strength of our Lord. We have and are held by a righteous God, who has promised us that He will care for us in His righteous ways. Let us worship Him with every bit of energy and love that we have.

Are we ready to move forward each day delighting in the salvation provided for us by the work of Christ? Are we ready to worship each day no matter the circumstances facing us. Are we willing no matter the many times we may have gone astray or may still go astray to turn back to the Lord, renew ourselves in His word, and seek Him no matter the cost? May our answer be a resounding, “Yes Lord!” Let us not focus on the past, but on the glorious future that we have been promised in our Lord and Savior. It seems sometimes that thanking the Lord is simply not enough, so let us praise, thank, move, and act in the promises found in God’s word and shine His glory and light into the world.

Father, You have saved me. Your perfect plan of salvation has placed me squarely in Your hand. Lord, I know this because Your words promise this. Lord, may I live the life that You have called me to. May I stay firmly on the road that Your light has lit for me. Lord, please use me to be Your light in this world. Lord, I know that all things belong to You, simply use me in the way that You choose. Use me Lord for Your glory always. I love You Lord. I will always love You Lord.
